Good for all ages.           Good for all group sizes.

How to play

Everyone stands in a circle, depending on how many people you have, pick between 3-6 fruits (you want at least 4 people in each fruit group) , go around the circle and assign the fruits to the students. (I usually point and say the fruits in order) until everyone is complete. Don’t forget to give yourself one too! The person in the middle says a fruit and everyone who is that fruit must change place in the circle. However the person in the middle also wants to get into a space in the circle. Therefore the slowest person doesn’t get a space and becomes the new person in the middle. The game continues on like this. The other command apart from the individual fruits is ‘Fruit Basket’. If the person in the middle says this command everyone playing my change places.

Tips for playing

  • Change fruits to characters or animals and the players must move like their character or animal when changing places. (Very fun!)

  • The person in the middle has to use a certain voice to say the fruit. For example, singing or like a monster or with an angry voice.

  • When playing to make it more difficult or competitive  when changing places you can’t change to the space next to you. You must cross the circle.

  • For younger students, mark the spaces they can run too with chalk, tape or cones so they know the designated space that is available.

  • Other variations could include festivals such as Halloween or Christmas themed characters.
